What Are The Chances?
by Kenny Rogers
Tor, $24HB, $9.99PB, 320pp
Publication Date: September 3, 2013
Written by Kenny Rogers with Spur Award winner Mike Blakely we have a book set in the heyday of Nashville with a protagonist who shares some similarities to Rogers.

Ronnie Breed returns to Texas in 1975 after his successful rock band has imploded. Deciding to reinvent himself as a solo act, his cousin, Dan Campbell, gets him involved as celebrity spokesman for  a televised Texas Hold’Em tournament. Soon Ronnie finds himself involved with world-class gamblers and illegal games while putting together as a country band aiming for a Nashville recording contract. Toss in the FBI, hidden cameras, a TV pilot, secret betting, the CIA and a beautiful woman for a delightful mystery caper.

This is a quick, fun read with well-written characters. Recommended ~~ Stephanie L Bannon
