Precinct 13
by Tate Hallaway
Berkley, $15, 320pp
Release Date: August 7, 2012
Alex Conner lands a job as the Hughes County coroner/medical examiner in Pierre , South Dakota . When the cops bring in a body and tell her to be careful with it, Alex just thinks they are fooling with her. That is, until the body disappears and the other residents of the morgue start talking to her.

After reporting the missing body, Alex is transferred to the mysterious Precinct 13. There she finds that her new co-workers are all paranormals just like her. She is encouraged to use her ability to speak to the dead to solve crimes.

This is an enjoyable read. It moves along at a nice pace and has a little something for everyone from zombies and fairies to a stepmother who really is a demon. A delightful introduction to a new series, I look forward to the next installment. ~~ Stephanie L Bannon
