This appears to be a debut novel and book one of a series.
Netex is an advanced research firm with more than one agenda, one of which poses a threat to humanity: a headset that uses audirum, a sound wave, that controls the brain and can throw users into another dimension.
Jacob Cross, one of the developers who had believed it would be used for medical applications, becomes terrified that it will be used to enslave instead. He throws himself through the dimensional portal where he falls in love with Tamara who warns him of a shared peril. When Jacob awakes, he finds his real life upside down and leaves him questioning his sanity.
What we have is greed and power taking on world domination with a leavening of eastern mysticism and western psychology. Interesting premises and world building mixed in with the action and technology give it interest and should be leading to further developments. ~~ Pam Allan
