Blue Dragon
by Kylie Chan
Harper Collins, $7.99, 592pp
Release Date: October 25, 2011

Blue Dragon is the third book in the Dark Heavens trilogy.

From the cover: “Martial Arts, Magic, Demons and Science

The forces of Hell are poised to strike...

When Emma's relatives come to visit her, they are totally freaked out by what they learn...Emma's beloved, John Chen, is a 3000 year old Chinese god. Not only that, John is becoming weaker by the day. Demons pursue him relentlessly, hoping to use Emma, and his child, Simone, as bargaining tools against him.

Emma battles to defend Simone as John's energy is drained by the effort of both living in the mortal world and protecting them. While Emma is nagged by doubts about her own nature, she must find the courage to go on... “

The conclusion to this trilogy answers some questions, brings some threads to a conclusion and opens others for a continuation of the story. Emma learns more about herself as events rush to a climax.

Once again I read this in two days; I literally could hardly put it down. The story is an enthralling mix of romance, Chinese mythology and urban fantasy which definitely leaves one wanting more. Luckily there is a second trilogy, Journey to Wudang, which Ms Chan has already written and hopefully a smart US publisher has already snapped it up. There are rumors that Ms Chan is in the planning stages of a third trilogy with the working title Celestial Battle.

Highly recommended. ~~ Stephanie L Bannon
